An update from Windermere Lake Cruises reveals that progress on the new build is avdancing as planned.
Here is the latest report
Following on from my update of 15th July, here is a progress report and the delivery dates for the next sections of the new vessel.
16th and 17th July 2019
John Woodburn, Windermere Lake Cruises Operations Director once again flew over to the shipyard, to inspect the five sections that were due to be sent over, the first two for arrival at site on 22nd July and the following three sections on 7th August.
Saturday 20th July 2019
The first two sections arrived in the county, after being shipped to Immingham they made their way across to Cumbria.

Monday 22nd July 2019
The first two sections of MV Swift’s hull were delivered on Monday 22 July. As planned, the road from Newby Bridge to Lakeside was closed whilst the transport company delivered the two sections. The first section crossed the bridge at 4:50 am and they both arrived at Lakeside by 5:20 am

A crane then lifted the sections from the lorries to the cradles at Lakeside.
Commenting on the modular sections’ arrival at the lakeshore, Windermere Lake Cruises’ Managing Director Nigel Wilkinson says, “Those of us who were privileged to watch the logistics and craneage were very impressed with the efficiency of the delivery, unloading and setting up process, which was all carried out safely under Damen’s watchful supervision.”
“The keel laying was a major landmark for us and we wanted to publicly thank Damen for all the hard work that has taken place to get us to the stage in the project.”
Week commencing Monday 29th July 2019
Alignment of sections S3 and S4 have taken place and welded together in anticipation of the next section arrival next week
Future Section Deliveries
Tuesday 6th August 2019
Arrival of 3 sections on 2 transporters and also a truck with a container with materials at 6:30 am, to minimize disruption between Newby Bridge and Lakeside Transport and Trucks will then move onto site at 8:00am
Unloading of the sections and container will take place
Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th August 2019
Two of the sections will then be aligned and then tag welded in place, we would anticipate that the noise level on these dates will be similar to that experienced on 22nd & 23rd July 2019 when the first sections were being joined.
During the remainder of the month welding will continue and internal pipework will be fitted.
2nd September
Two more sections will be delivered to the site in early September. At the moment the delivery date is anticipated to be 2nd September, we will confirm this nearer the time.
